| Bridging |
Join the incredible Bridging Volunteer Team!
Individuals are needed during all hours of operation, Monday through Saturday. Whether you want to volunteer a few times a year, or many hours every week, Bridging offers meaningful and manageable ways to be connected. Visit www.bridging.org to watch a video tour and get complete program details.
Choose from a variety of opportunities that are right for you: Shopping Assistants, Office and Client Support, Warehouse Assistance, Host a Product Drive, or Furniture Repair and Assembly. Schedule a program tour with the volunteer department to learn more and find a fit for your talents.
Because of the nature of our organization, many of the volunteer assignments will include some physical work. Please let us know in advance if you have physical limitations so that we may make accomodations.
Bridging was founded in 1987 with the vision that no child should have to sleep on the floor. We provide free household goods and furnishings to individuals and families in transition. We are an organization with a simple concept: we collect quality items people no longer need and reuse them by distributing them to families in need...and, incidentally, prevent these items from going to the landfill. Bridging partners with over 200 different social service agencies in Minnesota to provide this service. These agencies conduct home visits for their clients that need furniture and household goods. Social workers from these agencies refer clients to Bridging where they have an hour long shopping experience with our volunteers in our warehouses in Bloomington and Roseville.
Over 130 families per week use our facilities, each receiving between 20 and 25 items with a thrift shop value of approximately $2,000. Bridging gives away the equivalent of more than over 13 semi-trucks of furniture and household items every week--items that are new or gently used, donated by area individuals and businesses. Bridging is the largest furniture bank program in the nation. Last year, Bridging served over 16,000 people and distributed over $12 million of free furniture and household goods.
More information can be found at www.bridging.org - Call today to set up your program tour!
